The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has sent invitations to Blessing Egbe, Funke Akindele, and Daniel K Daniel.
The Academy noted that "this year's class of invitees features 71 Oscar nominations, with 15 winners," and that "admission decision is based on intellectual skills, with a dedicated service to representation and fairness."
The three individuals are among the 397 newcomers for 2022. Blessing was admitted to The Academy's Directors branch while Funke and Daniel were invited to join the Actors branch.
In 2020, Cynthia Erivo, Akin Omotoso, and Genevieve Nnaji joined. 2018 saw the addition of Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Femi Odugbemi, and Simon Onwurah.
